Two of the most popular destinations in the Mediterranean are just a short flight apart—less than 30 minutes.
However, several factors make the route Mykonos – Bodrum more complex than it seems:
- Traveling between Turkey and Greece requires customs and immigration clearance.
- Mykonos Airport does not allow long-term aircraft parking. As a result, private jets must transit through Athens, meaning passengers must cover both the Athens-Mykonos and Mykonos-Bodrum legs.
- Mykonos Airport is extremely busy, and securing a landing permit and slot during peak hours (10:00-14:00) is nearly impossible.
- Similarly, aircraft availability in Bodrum is limited, as many jets must be relocated from Istanbul.
These logistical challenges contribute to the high cost of private jet travel on this route.
Alternatively, helicopters offer a viable option, but they come with passenger and luggage limitations. To avoid the €2,480 VIP tax at Mykonos Airport, we clear customs at Samos (LGSM) when flying by helicopter.
