History 

Delphi is one of the most significant ancient Greek archaeological sites. Surrounded by the lush slopes of Mount Parnassos, this ancient Greek religious sanctuary was dedicated to the god Apollo. According to mythology,Apollo had placed a python or dragon to protect Delphi which was known to the ancients as the center or “navel of the Earth.”  During 6th century B.C., Delphi was an important religious center and symbol of unity of the ancient Greek world.

Ski your Heart Out 

The Parnassos Ski Center is the biggest and best organized ski center in the country. There are two main locations, Kellaria and Fterolakka, which are connected with lifts and runs. The third one, Yerodovrahos, is a small separate resort which is linked with Kellaria by ski trails. The resort features a total of 23 runs out of which three are difficult, eight are intermediate and four are for beginners.

Besides skiing, visitors can discover plenty of other outdoor activities such as hiking, trekking or just simply walking around the charming cobblestone streets. For those who aren’t fans of winter sports, enjoying a hot beverage or a glass of champagne while soaking in the view is an alternative option to hitting the slopes.

Χιονοδρομικό κέντρο Παρνασσού

Οι πλαγιές του Παρνασσού αποτελούνται από δύο χιονοδρομικά τμήματα, την Κελλάρια και τη Φτερόλακκα, τα οποία μαζί αποτελούν το μεγαλύτερο χιονοδρομικό κέντρο της Ελλάδας. Ένα μικρότερο χιονοδρομικό κέντρο (μόνο δύο συρόμενοι αναβατήρες) που ονομάζεται Γεροντόβραχος βρίσκεται απέναντι από την Κελλαριά σε μια κορυφογραμμή. Ο Παρνασσός εξορύσσεται για το άφθονο απόθεμά του σε βωξίτη, ο οποίος μετατρέπεται σε οξείδιο του αλουμινίου και στη συνέχεια σε αλουμίνιο.

Σε αυτό το βουνό σε υψόμετρο 1.600-2.250μ. στις περιοχές Κελάρια και Φτερόλακκα λειτουργεί από τον Δεκέμβριο μέχρι τις αρχές Μαΐου το Χιονοδρομικό Κέντρο Παρνασσού, το οποίο είναι το μεγαλύτερο και το καλύτερα οργανωμένο χιονοδρομικό κέντρο της χώρας μας.

Σε υψόμετρο 1.600-2.250m, στα Κελάρια και τη Φτερόλακα, βρίσκεται το Parnassos SC. 19 πίστες, 7 διαδρομές, 10 μονοπάτια και 3 μίνι πίστες για αρχάριους συνολικού μήκους 36 χιλιομέτρων, καθώς και 12 διαδρομές εκτός πίστας περιμένουν τους σκιέρ και τους snowboarders κάθε επιπέδου, κάθε χρόνο, από τον Δεκέμβριο έως τον Μάιο.
